Duck friend by lorendil
Duck friend

I like the atmosphere of this one.  It has a kind of mysterious fairytale feel, especially with the look on the models face.  One wonders what she is looking at and why is she holding a duck.

I like the composition of the undulating ridge lines and the contrast of the warm autumn/fall colours in the foreground with the cool colour of the snow capped mountains in the background.

The Ties That Keep Us Bound by kentmacdonald
The Ties That Keep Us Bound
by kentmacdonald

I like the way the colours go together, the composition of the curved ground with the vignette around the sky, the silhouette of the figures with the space above and around them.  I feel like this photo has kind of a lonely purposefulness to it.  Also, I can imagine the figures beaming up to a spaceship.

Winter 2015 by M-M-X
Winter 2015

I like the pastel palette, the tree placed on the rule of thirds and the use of an unnatural blue colour cast which I think adds to the feeling of coldness that would be lost with warm yellows and oranges more typical of sunrise/sunset.

Stairway To Heaven by wosicz
Stairway To Heaven
by wosicz

I like the close cropping on this one which helps the building command attention and somehow feel as if it is about to burst out of the frame.  With the disrepair of the building and the leaves on the ground I could see this photo being used in a halloween photo manipulation.

A different world
by flyingfantasy

I like closeups of things people might otherwise not notice or see.  I find the colour palette very pleasing as is the use of depth of field.

WINE A LITTLE
by Onelessemptyframe

I like the abstract simplicity of overall look of this photo and the placement of the Maori symbol with its tongue out adds a more intricate detail for the eyes to focus on.

kumru by barissuer

Another example of a simple colour palette that I think works for the image and helps tell a story.  I find the bird framed in the one window pane in mid stride compelling.  To me the bird could just as easily be interpreted as looking in with his foot up as if to say, "hey there, just thought I would stop by and see if you had any food."

Breezy Day by ferret46

I like the use of depth of field to separate the animal from the background and the moody simplicity of black and white.

My favourite photo - ever by AdrianSadlier
My favourite photo - ever
by AdrianSadlier

There is a kind of rustic overall charm to this image that I find appealing.  I find when I look closer I imagine a wide eyed look in the horses eye and that it appears that the horse has been gnawing on the window sill and with the look of abandoned disrepair of the building I can imagine the horse was  desperately trying to chew its way out thinking, "oh my god, let me out of here."

I feel like this one tells a quiet story of lonely endurance and perseverance.

compunction by yiimisekiz
compunction
by yiimisekiz

This image has a model that inspires a kind of moody depressed loneliness that contrasts with the warm hopefulness of the yellow colour palette and the bright wall.

Reflection

Cities inspire thoughts of hustle bustle, noisy chaotic busyness.  I like how this image has a feeling of tranquil peacefulness like a place of calm in the midst of a storm.

Captors
by marciocaseiro

I find this photo strangely compelling.  The depth of focus is wide enough so that one can place the photographers in the context of being part of a busy street scene yet shallow enough that with the use of black and white to eliminate any clashing or distracting colours the street scene stays unobtrusively in the background.  The photographer on the left is dominant and draws the eye into the photo, the direction she is facing.  The eye follows to the second photographer who is standing close to the edge of the frame and looking out of the frame which normally would be something to avoid.  In this case I believe the photographer on the left has enough presence to bring the eye back and cause one to focus on the story of the image.

View of church in Borovsk by hitfors

For me the use of black and white, the dominance of the clouds and the size and placement of the church produces a dramatic lonely desolate atmosphere.

A picture perfect web bejewelled with water drops.

Simple Pleasure by jemsagcal
Simple Pleasure
by jemsagcal

While a lovely and visually appealing photo this is not necessarily a typical photo of food.  Here the emphasis is more on telling a story with romantic softness evoking more of a nostalgic feeling than about appealing to the tastebuds with the more typical bright saturated colours.
